Working with Storm King Art Center's landscape architect (Reed Hilderbrand), a new skiable outdoor art museum will be sited throughout a beloved ski resort in Utah that's recently been acquired by former Netflix CEO Reed Hastings.
Alongside artist 'headliners' James Turrell, Jenny Holzer, Nancy Holt, Arthur Jafa, and Paul McCarthy are a number of up-and-coming artists like EJ Hill, Gala Porras-Kim, Nikita Gale, Davina Semo, and Raven Halfmoon. The inaugural arts program is co-curated by independent curator Matthew Thompson; newly appointed LACMA curator of contemporary art Diana Nawi; and the project's Chief Creative Officer, Alex Zhang.
Powder Mountain will be open for the 2024–2025 ski season this winter with selected artworks on view including the EJ Hill and Davina Semo commissions, with a "grand opening" of the new art program and full buildout slated for 2026.
