Sanford Biggers: Mirror
The Armory Show | Platform
5 - 8 September 2024
The Javits Center

Marianne Boesky is presenting a large-scale installation by Sanford Biggers (b. 1970; Los Angeles) as part of The Armory Show’s large-scale curated section, Platform, which is this year helmed by Eugenie Tsai. At more than eight feet tall, Mirror is Biggers’ largest marble sculpture to date. A continuation of his ongoing Chimera series, Mirror merges elements of traditional African masks, European busts, and classical figures to explore historical representations of the body, along with their myths, archetypes, and power dynamics.  Learn more in the press release linked here.

Sanford Biggers’ Armory Show presentation will be on view parallel to the gallery's duo of solo exhibitions in its Chelsea spaces, Gina Beavers: Divine Consumer at 507 West 24th Street and Jay Heikes: Devolve at 509 West 24th Street.
