Softly Radiant, Half Buried
26 June - 1 August 2025
Marianne Boesky Gallery
509 West 24th Street
Alongside Beirut-based ceramicist Nathalie Khayat’s solo exhibition, Marianne Boesky is pleased to present Softly Radiant, Half Buried: a group exhibition curated by roster artist Martyn Cross.
Borrowing its title from a review of Arthur Dove's 1976 Whitney retrospective, Softly Radiant, Half Buried features 15 artists who, like Dove, make work that lives in a fuzzy, interior space with allusions to geology and often to decay. Arthur Dove's 1935 oil on canvas entitled Swamp is featured in the show, alongside works by artists including Gertrude Abercrombie, David Altmejd, and Lonnie Holley. As well as their united themes, the artists have all served as points of inspiration for Cross as he works toward his next solo show at the gallery opening this October.
