Alongside a new exhibition of never-exhibited works by Pier Paolo Calzolari, Marianne Boesky gallery is pleased to present in its adjacent space a group exhibition curated by Marianne, entitled Between Matter & Illumination.

The exhibition features artists who blend abstraction and figuration with a particular emphasis on light and form. Among the larger list of featured artists are Kwamé Azure Gomez, Sheree Hovsepian, Leiko Ikemura, Dora Jeridi, Julie Mehretu, Maja Ruznic, Kikuo Saito, and Tianyue Zhong. The unifying thread of these works is suggestion rather than certainty, with fleeting details and titles revealing hints of narrative rather than firmly assigned meaning.
