Twelve sculptures from the 1950s and 1960s will take center stage in Lévy Gorvy Dayan's ground floor galleries in the first New York exhibition in nearly four decades dedicated to the Italian sculptor Leoncillo Leonardi (1915-1968), known mononymously as Leoncillo. Focusing on the radical body of sculpture Leoncillo created in the last ten years of his life, the presentation is a tribute to the artist’s singular relationship to the ceramic medium. Among the twelve historically significant sculptures featured in the exhibition will be San Sebastiano nero (1962) and Tempo ferito II (1963), both last exhibited in New York in Leoncillo’s celebrated solo exhibition at Odyssia Gallery in 1965.
