Fresh off a MASS MoCA residency in which she explored art-focused AI processes, academic pioneer Anne Spalter (creator of Brown’s and RISD’s original digital fine arts programs in the 1990s, and author of a seminal textbook on computer art) is exhibiting an AI-based mixed media installation in a Downtown LA warehouse. The installation, entitled Inflation, uses new AI technologies to create a surrealistic, dreamlike environment that furthers Spalter’s decades-long academic exploration of the computer in the visual arts.
